So, did GM flub or leave us an easter egg?

I’d made a post on facebook about this awhile back but it didn’t exactly catch a lot of traction (probably because it was at like 3am *insert nervous laughter* ).

Here’s the video in question, the scene is around 26 seconds in and it’s just a quick flash.

I’d sat down to watch it because I missed it on the original run, then I think to myself, “Wayment, that isn’t a Blackwing wireframe.”

Kinja'd!!!

Those are log manifolds for a turbocharged application . The Blackwing is a Hot V. I’m sure others have already noticed this. We also can’t see the top of the engine, and it looks more like a conventional manifold up there...

Here’s the Blackwing below , and you can see the turbos up top in the valley of the block between the heads, and the flowing inlet manifold on the side of the block after going through the water to air heat exchanger.

And of course, here’s a pic of one of the TT DOHC engine from the “Zerv” leaks, it was getting shared on facebook and quickly taken down ¯\_()_/¯

I feel like th is is actually what was shown in the video , or something very closely related.

I guess either way, it’ll be exciting to see what comes about from all this since we know GM can have multiple irons in the fire when developing a new platform (there’s pictures of them working on the C8 prototype early on and it still had C7 exhaust manifolds).

I, for one, refuse to believe Blackwing is dead...

We will see that architecture rise again somewhere.

I’m in the same boat as you.  It just seems so out of the ordinary to do something like this, especially with how much that had to have been involved in developing that engine.

I’m guessing we’ll see it in a CT5 “ V-max” or something.

My guess is that it’ll be in the C8 ZR-1

Yeah, I’ve been yelled at for suggesting this... but WTF? GM wrote a check for TWO completely new DOHC high-output V8 design-and-tooling programs AT THE SAME TIME?>?>?>?!????

Inconceivable they’d have two near-identical programs, in the midst of a world going to hybrids-and-electrification...

So, I think the Corvette (and maybe an eventual Caddy halo car) gets some version of the Blackwing— even if it has different heads-and-induction.
